O’Connell consistently steps up for people of Taunton
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Two years ago, I got to know Shaunna O'Connell.
It started because of my late husband, George A. Heath.
She checked in with me, making sure I was OK. She invited me to her fundraisers, not because she wanted anything from me. She wanted me not to feel alone. I met some wonderful people from Taunton. I finally was connected to people in the city I've lived in for more than 20 years. When O'Connell first ran for office, George talked with her in our front yard.
Whatever was said convinced George he was voting for her. George was so happy to meet someone who really wanted a chance to change our city for the better. He learned a lot that day. Then I did too, because he didn't shut up! He was like a little kid learning something new, talking about it over and over.
O'Connell steps up. She's not afraid to oppose something. She stands up for those that can't. She's the voice we need.
O'Connell has helped me navigate a few issues that have come up since losing George, things where I couldn't make a change and got aggravated with. She took it on and helped me connect to the right people. It's a great feeling when you know someone cares for you and listens to the issues. Then, she became my friend.
Vote O'Connell on Nov. 6. Her voice is our voice.
