Mayor-Elect O’Connell Announces Transition Team

Taunton, MA . . . Today Mayor-Elect Shaunna O’Connell announced her Transition Team. The members will help guide the O’Connell administration as they prepare to take office on January 6th of next year.


“I am extremely pleased so many people have volunteered to serve on our transition team. We want to hit the ground running on day one in helping the people of Taunton and working to implement our promises,” said O’Connell.


The Transition Team includes people from the public and private sector, seniors, neighborhood representatives, city councilors past and present, advocates, a senior, and a high school student representing the future of Taunton. The O’Connell Transition Team membership includes:

“We included a wide variety of people to make sure we had as many voices represented as possible. Our goal is to open up the doors of city hall, and this transition committee represents the first step in this process,” said O’Connell.


The Transition Team will meet with O’Connell and be solicited for advice as she prepares to take the reins. They will also do outreach to give O’Connell input on issues confronting the city.


O’Connell was elected on November 5th in a landslide of 63 percent. She is the first woman to be elected Mayor in Taunton. O’Connell will be resigning her seat as State. Representative before she takes office as Mayor.


As a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, O’Connell has saved taxpayers millions of dollars by fighting for welfare reform. She has been a strong advocate for victims and veterans.
